The Little Things That Make Me Happy

The Little Things That Make Me Happy

* Listening to music – I love knowing that however I feel if I just put on some music it will make me smile. Music inspires me when I need it and brings back so many precious memories. Music always make me smile.

Turning into my driveway and seeing my home – it makes me happy to know that after I have been out I get to turn into the driveway and see the home that my husband and I work so hard for. It makes me so proud and happy.

* Spending time with family and friends – we all get so busy and it is often hard to catch up, but when we can spend time together it puts a smile on my face.

* Eating chocolate – what can I say….YUMMY

* Completing my daily To Do List it makes me happy to know that I have achieved what I set out to do.

* Watching my dog running around and playing with her toys – our dog Shelby is so funny (especially when she cannot see you). She never fails to make me happy.

* Sunday brunch – our very own little tradition on Sundays. My hubby makes bacon and eggs for brunch. So yummy and precious time together makes me happy.

* Looking at photos – what a fantastic way to relive our glory days, to see how far we have come and to spend time with people we miss. Cherish them, they will put a smile on your face.

* Receiving mail from our World Vision Sponsor Child – getting mail that isn’t bills is always nice. However nothing makes me happier than receiving mail from or about our sponsor child. It makes me happy to see how she is growing and learning.

 It's The Little Things

The Big C

Today I wanted to share with you one of my favourite televisions shows ever.

The Big C.

In short The Big C follows the life of reserved, suburban wife and mother, Cathy Jamison, in the wake of he terminal cancer diagnosis. Cathy vows to dramatically shake up her life, and face her diagnosis while trying to find humour and happiness.

The characters became like friends to me. I laughed with them, I cried with them, and I was inspired by them.

Cathy Jamison is one incredible person, who inspired me so much with her wonderful words of wisdom.

Here are a few of my favourite words….

When did you first realise you were a writer?

When did you first realise you were a writer?

I was asked this question recently, and it left me speechless. All I could manage to say was “I’m not a writer”. Then I changed the subject.

I have since thought about this question many times.

I now have an answer.

I love to write.

I love everything about it.

I am totally addicted to notebooks, sticky note and novelty pens.

I love the way it feels when I put pen to paper.

I love being able to write sown my thoughts, ideas and plans.

I love the feeling that maybe my words talk to other people.

So whether I am a writer or not, I believe that you should….

do what you love and do it often

The difference children make….

Today my husband and I attended a school fete.

I had a great time. I entered raffles, brought fairy floss and had a look at eveything that was there.

Although this fete was the same as last year. For me it was extremely different.

The difference you ask, is that last year we took our two foster boys aged four and six.

So last year, while we still entered raffles, brought fairy floss and had a look at everything. We also saw the boys faces light up after having them painted, we watched as they bounced as high as the could on the bouncy castle, and listened as the laughed the whole time they were on the catepiller ride.

So for me, today was a simple reminder that although sometimes it is hard work with children, there are always going to be things that are so much better with them.
